# core.system.base:System

Define a measurement setup/system.

Usage

``` python
core.system.base:System(name=None)
```

A system is defined by its `Parameter`s (stored in `parameters`) and its devices (stored in `devs`). It provides functions to set, trigger and read the individual parameters, as well as set, query and reset functions to open and initialize the devices, query their configuration and return the system to a defined state.

## Attributes

`parameters: list`
The parameters that make up the system.

`columns: list`
Column names extracted from the parameters.

`units: list`
Units extracted from the parameters.

`dtypes: list`
Dtypes extracted from the parameters.

`default_values: list`
Default values extracted from the parameters.

`chunks: list`
Chunk lengths extracted from the parameters.

`devs: dict`
The devices that belong to the system.

`dcdata: dict`
Telemetry according to the Dublin Core specification that can be used to generate header information, see [VALID_META_KEYS](core.metadata.VALID_META_KEYS.md#matr1x.core.metadata.VALID_META_KEYS).

`system_config_params: dict`
Custom device queries to read the configuration; keys match the device names in `devs`.

`name: str or None`
Optional instance name used by control GUIs and as the subsystem accessor for ordinary systems.
